Appletree Books, an independent bookstore, offers an eclectic, well curated selection of new book titles in multiple genres for both children and adults. The store is located in the Cedar Fairmount neighborhood at 12419 Cedar Road in the historic Heights Center building, up the hill from Cleveland’s University Circle. Established in 1975, we are excited to celebrate our 40th anniversary this year!
We seek to offer books that transport readers to other places, both visually and verbally, and aim to introduce beautifully illustrated and interesting books to our customers.
We feature greeting cards, journals, letterpress cards and notecards in addition to puzzles, bookends, candles and small gift items in an intimate, warm space in the historic Heights Center building.
We are pleased to carry the following products:
Snow and Graham notecards, greeting cards and memo pads (we are the only store in northeast Ohio to carry their products)
Ornament Letterpress (Shaker Heights, OH based artist) letterpress notecards and flatcards
Cavallini notecards, calendars, wrapping paper and labels

New & Noteworthy
US History: One Summer: America 1927
This is a well written history that succeeds in providing an interesting picture of the US right before the Great Crash. Lindberg, Coolidge, the Red Scare, Sacco and Vanzetti, Philo T. Farnsworth (look it up!). Babe Ruth, Mabel Willebrandt and others featured. I love a book that makes you want to explore a subject more! This one does it! Michael
Appletree Books is a delightful oasis in a sea of cookie cutter bookstores. You’ll find the expected here, but also the unexpected. The store’s tranquil atmosphere makes it a welcome place to shop.
