On Monday April 24th, the first part of the Cedar Fairmount construction project made its way to the front door of Appletree Books! The replacement of the gas line on Cedar has made its way to our block!
If you find it difficult to use our front door due to construction, our back door will be open for customer access. To access our back door, look for the alley behind our building marked by the new Appletree banners on Surrey and Lennox roads. Head towards the Appletree banner and come in the door!
We expect the gas line construction to take another 3-4 weeks to complete on the north side of Cedar Rd. Gas line replacement on the south side of Cedar, the Cedar Fairmount Streetscape improvement project and the repaving of Cedar Road will follow. Estimated completion of these phases is mid-November, 2017.
The city of Cleveland Heights has more information about the project and provides periodic updates on the status here: Streetscape Update
During the construction, parking in front of the store may not be possible at certain times. Parking is available in the parking garage behind our building, and there is a city lot behind the Firestone Station on Grandview. Free parking is available every weekend in the neighborhood in city lots, garages, and metered spaces.
Effective on May 1, 2017, Appletree will be offering free delivery twice a week (on Tuesdays and Thursdays) for our customers who order $20 or more and live in “The Heights Area” – Cleveland Heights, University Heights, and Shaker Heights – and who request delivery service. Orders can be placed via phone, email, or on our website. This service will be offered for the duration of the construction project.
