Appletree Books

Appletree Books, an independent bookstore established in 1975, offers an eclectic, well-curated selection of new book titles in multiple genres for both children and adults. The store is located in the Cedar Fairmount neighborhood at 12419 Cedar Road in the historic Heights Center building, up the hill from Cleveland’s University Circle. We are proud to be celebrating over 40 years in our original location.

We seek to offer books that transport readers to other places, both visually and verbally and aim to introduce beautifully illustrated and interesting books to our customers.

We feature greeting cards, journals, letterpress cards and notecards in addition to puzzles, bookends, candles, and small gift items in an intimate, warm space in the historic Heights Center building.

Lynn's Comments

January 2021

Wow!  What a year 2020 has been!  A year that has brought numerous challenges to so many and a year that many will be glad to put behind them.

All of us at Appletree (me, Jane, Michael, Lorie, Ed, Julia, and Rebecca) are very appreciative of your ethos of “shopping and buying local” and your efforts in providing a lifeline for our 46-year old bookstore during this historic year.  We love recommending great “escapist” reads as a way of dealing with these COVID and winter months, and we will continue to be there for you to “duck” the gray days of winter and social distancing.

We will be closed from January 4th through January 11th for inventory, new carpet installation, and a “deep clean” for COVID.  We will re-open on Tuesday, January 12th, and look forward to helping you find a new author or to explore or a new puzzle to piece together.

Many, many thanks to all of you for sustaining us both financially and emotionally during this past year; your support has been truly beneficial and meaningful on multiple levels.  All of us at Appletree plan to do our best to bring you a creative, thoughtful, and meaningful holiday season.

If you have questions, please feel free to call us at 216.791.2665 or via email at info@appletree-books.com.

Thank you,
