Appletree Books, an independent bookstore established in 1975, offers an eclectic, well-curated selection of new book titles in multiple genres for both children and adults. The store is located in the Cedar Fairmount neighborhood at 12419 Cedar Road in the historic Heights Center building, up the hill from Cleveland’s University Circle. We are proud to be celebrating over 40 years in our original location.
We seek to offer books that transport readers to other places, both visually and verbally and aim to introduce beautifully illustrated and interesting books to our customers.
We feature greeting cards, journals, letterpress cards and notecards in addition to puzzles, bookends, candles, and small gift items in an intimate, warm space in the historic Heights Center building.
We are pleased to carry the following from local and national designers:

October brings cooler weather, mums, pumpkins, ghouls, and goblins as the leaves turn brilliant colors (hopefully!). Appletree Books is initiating a series of discussion courses this fall and hope you will join us (and register) for our first offering, facilitated by Ben Sperry, entitled “Literature for Justice: Mass Incarceration in the United States,” meeting on Sundays beginning in mid-October. Our next offering will be during the winter of 2020, so be on the lookout for another course with different subject matter; we are very pleased to have Holly Scott spearheading this effort and hope you will join us as we “learn through literature” in the coming year! In the meantime, enjoy your favorite Halloween candy!
