Handling the Holidays - Winter 2021
Remember the saying “you snooze, you lose”? This year it may prove truer than we wish.
As if Covid wasn’t enough to deal with last holiday season, this coming holiday season of 2021 may prove to be even more challenging due to shipping logjams, worker shortages, and reprinting delays. Not to mention port closures and the Delta variant running rampant. There have been numerous articles concerning UPS and FedEx preparing for backlogs and delays on top of port backlogs, lack of containers for shipping, etc.
While we don’t want to worry you, we would much prefer to alert you to the challenges many businesses and shippers will be experiencing this coming holiday season; it is already looking like a season, unlike anything we have experienced. The publishing industry and bookstores, not limited to just Appletree, will be grappling with all these issues in the coming months.
To provide our customers with shopping options, we will be offering “Book the Bookstore” private, reserved shopping experiences every Thursday and Friday evening from 5 to 7 PM during November and December; additionally, this year, we will be adding a reserved brunch shopping experience between 11 and 1 on Sundays. For details, please check our September 13th newsletter or the Events board on our website. We will be continuing our curbside pickup and delivery options to facilitate your shopping.
All of us at Appletree will be making every attempt to fill your specific customer orders, but many circumstances beyond our control may impact respective situations. So, we are encouraging you to shop early and either e-mail or call us about those items on your wish lists. The sooner, the better!
Appletree Books is a delightful oasis in a sea of cookie cutter bookstores. You’ll find the expected here, but also the unexpected. The store’s tranquil atmosphere makes it a welcome place to shop.
